Privacy Policy

1. Scope and developer

This policy applies to the App and is provided by the developer/publisher of Video Downloader & Player (“we,” “us,” or “our”). It does not govern websites, media services, app stores, operating-system services, or other third-party services you may access through the App.

2. Information the App accesses and processes

Device media and files

With your permission, the App can access video files and related metadata in your device’s shared media storage, including file name, size, duration, date added, folder name, and content URI. This is used to display your local library, play videos, import videos into the private area, identify large or potentially duplicate files, share a file when you request it, and delete a file when you confirm that action.

Downloads and download records

When you start a download, the App processes the source URL, file name, media type, request headers needed by the source (which may include a referrer, user-agent string, or source-site cookie), and download status. Downloaded files are saved through Android’s download and media-storage services. The App keeps download records on your device so it can show progress and history.

Browser and website data

The App includes a browser. Pages you open may create cookies, cache files, form or site storage, and browser history. URLs and page content may be processed on-device to detect media that a website makes available. When the App loads a page, searches the web, analyzes a link, or downloads a file, the destination website, search provider, content host, network provider, and their service providers may receive ordinary network information such as your IP address, user-agent string, request details, cookies, and interactions under their own privacy policies.

Settings and private-area data

The App stores preferences such as language, search engine, Wi-Fi-only downloading, browser settings, and first-run state locally. A private-area PIN and references to imported private videos are also stored locally. The PIN is an app-level access control and should not be treated as a substitute for device encryption or a strong device passcode.

Notifications and network state

The App may request notification permission to display download status. It checks network availability and connection type to support features such as Wi-Fi-only downloading. The current version does not request precise or background location.

Information you send voluntarily

If you contact us by email or through another service, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, and attachments. Your email provider also processes that communication under its own terms.

3. How information is used

Information is processed only as needed to:

• provide browsing, media detection, permitted downloading, playback, organization, private-area, sharing, deletion, and cleaning features;
• remember your settings and maintain local download and browser state;
• secure access to the private area with the PIN you set;
• show download progress and respond to support requests;
• protect the App, users, and services from misuse and comply with applicable law.

4. Collection, sharing, and third parties

We do not currently operate an account system or an application backend that receives your local video library, PIN, browsing history, or download records. The App does not currently sell personal information.

Information is transmitted when required by a feature you initiate. For example, browser and search requests go to the selected website or search provider; link analysis and downloads communicate with the relevant content source or host; Android system services process downloads, notifications, storage, file sharing, and deletion; and files are sent to the application or recipient you select when you use Share. These recipients process information under their own privacy policies.

The App may rely on Android platform components, open-source media tools, and Google Play services supplied with your device. We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.

5. Planned AdMob advertising

If AdMob is introduced, Google and participating advertising partners may automatically collect or receive information such as IP address, advertising or app-set identifiers where available, device and operating-system information, general location inferred from IP address, ad views, clicks and other interactions, diagnostics, and consent choices. They may use this information to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and abuse, limit ad frequency, and—where permitted and consented to—personalize advertising.

Before serving ads where required, we intend to use appropriate consent and privacy controls, including Google’s consent tools for applicable regions, and to honor available choices for non-personalized or limited ads. 6. Legal bases and choices

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to provide features you request and perform our agreement with you, based on your consent (for example, optional Android permissions and future advertising consent), for legitimate interests such as security and support, and to comply with legal obligations.

You can decline or revoke video-library and notification permissions in Android settings. Some related features will not work without the relevant permission. You can clear browser cache, history, and cookies in the App, change supported preferences, delete downloaded files or local videos through the available controls, reset or clear the App’s storage in Android settings, or uninstall the App. You can also use device and Google advertising controls after advertising is introduced.

7. Data retention and deletion

Settings, browser data, download records, private-area references, and PIN data remain on your device until you clear them with available App or Android controls, clear the App’s storage, or uninstall the App. Downloaded and imported media may remain in shared storage after the App is uninstalled and must be deleted separately. Website cookies or other site data remain until cleared or until their own expiration.

Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain support records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of support communications by contacting us, subject to legal retention requirements. Because the current App has no user accounts or developer-operated cloud profile, there is no App account to delete.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the App’s design. Local information is protected by Android’s application sandbox and your device’s security controls. Network traffic to websites and download hosts is protected when those services support HTTPS; the App can also access HTTP pages, whose traffic may not be encrypted. No security method is completely secure, so keep Android updated, use a device lock, and download only from sources you trust.

9. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum digital-consent age in the user’s jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can take appropriate action. A future release intended for children would require additional disclosures, controls, and compliance measures before distribution.

10. International processing

Websites, search services, content hosts, email providers, future advertising providers, and other services you choose may process information in countries other than your own. Their handling and transfer safeguards are described in their respective privacy policies.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when features, data practices, legal requirements, or third-party services change, including when AdMob advertising is added. We will post the revised policy at this location, update the “Last updated” date, and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required. Please review this page periodically.
